According to President Barack Obama’s bracket, there’s a 50 percent chance the national champion will come from the Sunflower State.

U.S. President Barack Obama has a “standing offer” to join CBS for its telecast of college basketball’s men’s tournament, network executive Sean McManus said.

The CBS Corp. network contacted the White House to ask whether Obama would fill out a 65-team bracket or otherwise participate in coverage of the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament, McManus, the president of CBS News, said at a media gathering to preview the championship.

The March Madness tournaments tips off on Thursday, March 18th and some of the top College basketball teams in the country will be going in a head to head matchup in order to play in the Final 4 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Here’s the printable 2010 NCAA MArch Madness Bracket (print here)

2010 march madness predictions

First-round victors and victims

If you read the earlier piece you know that I argued about the folly of picking any upset lower than a 4-13. One seeds are a lock against 16 seeds –100-0 over the 25 years of the 64-team era; two seeds are nearly as strong against 15 seeds, at 96-4; and three seeds are a dominant 85-15 against 14 seeds. The last top-three seed to get upset in the tourney was Iowa in 2006, when the Hawkeyes lost to No. 14 Northwestern State. I don’t see any of the three seeds getting shocked this year (if you forced me to pick one, I would say New Mexico), so let’s concentrate on the 6-11, 5-12 and 4-13 games.

  • In the 6-11 matchups, only one squad has the Cinderella qualities we cited in Anatomy of an Upset. The Washington Huskies average more than 73 points per game and have an average scoring margin greater than seven points.
  • In the 5-12 matchups, two teams have the right stuff to spring a surprise. Both Cornell and Utah State went to the dance last year and get at least 51 percent of their points from the frontcourt.
  • In the 4-13 matchups, watch out for Murray State. The Racers have an experienced tourney coach, the requisite scoring margin, and the backcourt/frontcourt scoring balance to slay a giant.
Here are some brackets by experts!

Expert Picks

Gary Parrish, Senior Writer
My pick of Kentucky is based on the Wildcats having more future high-level NBA players than anybody, Kansas included. John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins and Patrick Patterson are lottery picks, Eric Bledsoe might be too, and Daniel Orton could join them one day. John Calipari’s team is loaded — just like North Carolina last year, KU two years ago, Florida in 2006 and 2007, and you get the point. Champion: Kentucky

Parrish’s Bracket
Gregg Doyel, National Columnist
Kansas winning the national title isn’t worth much expansion. The Jayhawks are the No. 1 overall seed, they’re loaded, and they’ve done it several times before. But the team they’ll beat for the title, West Virginia, is notable. I’ve got the Mountaineers muscling DeMarcus Cousins out of his mind in the East Regional final, then breaking Duke over their knee in the Final Four. Champion: Kansas

Doyel’s Bracket
Brian De Los Santos, College Production Editor
Some years you just have to go with the chalk and I believe this is one of those years. The college basketball landscape has been top heavy all season and Kansas and Kentucky have been the leaders of the class. Had Ohio State not been in an a region opposite Kansas, I would have had them in the Final Four. Champion: Kansas

De Los Santos’ Bracket
Michael Freeman, National Columnist
I’m a sucker and a fool. I’m a sucker-fool. Is that a word? But I’m one of the brainwashed geniuses who has bought into the bawdy bodaciousness of the Big East. I have five Big East teams in my Elite Eight which is lunacy. The easy part of the bracket goodness is picking Kentucky. They’re the best team I’ve seen all year. They’re also the most athletic. Plus, they have John Wall. Champion: Kentucky

Purdue, Michigan State and Ohio State finished the season in a three-way tie for first place, the first time the Big Ten has had a three-way tie since 1979. They also finished in a dead heat against each other, as Purdue split both games against the Spartans and Buckeyes, while Ohio State beat Michigan State in their only meeting.

Ohio State Evan Turner’s 37 footer buzzer beater shocked Michigan Fans (video)

by wildcherry on Friday, March 12th, 2010 | News, Sports | No Comments

Turner took an inbounds pass, dribbled upcourt and drained a 37-footer at the buzzer to give No. 5 Ohio State a 69-68 win over Michigan on Friday in the Big Ten tournament quarterfinals.

“You can’t really practice for those moments, you just have to come out and come ready,” he said.

The Big Ten player of the year left his arm in the air after the release, confident that the long shot would fall.

“I was just trying to get the ball up and get it in shooting range and keep my follow-through, and it went in,” he said modestly.

Turner finished with 18 points and eight assists for the Buckeyes (25-7), who advanced to play Illinois in the semifinals on Saturday. The Fighting Illini beat No. 13 Wisconsin 58-54 on Friday afternoon.

Turner’s final attempt was so close to the buzzer that the play was reviewed. When the officials signaled the shot was good, the red-clad section of the crowd erupted.

Find out the latest ACC tournament 2010 Live Score and Bracket Updates as we have the ACC Tournament 2010 right here:

Defending national champion North Carolina sits at 5-11 in conference play, a seriously hyped Georgia Tech team finished in the middle of the pack and Maryland is staring Duke in the face at the top of the standings.

Duke, Maryland, Florida State, Wake Forest and Clemson all appear to be safe bets for NCAA tournament invites. Though Virginia Tech finished in a tie for third in the conference, there’s still some feeling that they’re not a lock due in large part to a non-conference SOS that ranked as one of the worst in the country. Georgia Tech is the other ACC team on the tournament bubble. The Yellow Jackets may need to advance to at least the semis to improve their chances on Selection Sunday.

Lebron James Steroids Use: Rumor or Fact ?

by wildcherry on Friday, March 12th, 2010 | News, Sports | No Comments

Steven Lebron, the Cleveland Indian outfielder has been suspended from MLB for 50 games for steroid use. I want to let the whole world knows that it’s NOT Lebron James of NBA the Cleveland Cavaliers that’s suspended. So relax Cleveland Cavs fans, your hope of winning NBA Championship is still alive!

Now since we clear that issue up, here’s pictures of Lebron James from his high school years and his current one. Take a look for yourself and be the judge if he supersized himself!

Although he grows in size, he’s been an athletic and muscular man since high school so I don’t think he takes steroids...unless he starts very early! I’m sure his high school banned the use of steroid and the NBA would detect it if he does use it through out his career.

Besides, I doubt that his mom would allow him to take steroids.

So lets close this argument from now on,….well at least until the next guy named “Lebron” is suspended!

LeBron James DOESN’T take Steroids!!!

I want to see Lebron and the Cavs in the Eastern Conf Final so i can cheer for my favorite NBA team : Let’s go Magic!!! (Sorry LeBron)

Tiger Woods Returns to PGA Golf

by wildcherry on Thursday, March 11th, 2010 | News, Sports | No Comments

The New York Post — citing two unnamed sources — reported Thursday that Woods would be returning to the PGA Tour in the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in Orlando, Fla., on March 25.

Mark O’Meara, a friend of Woods and a fellow PGA Tour player, told Golf Channel he “wouldn’t be surprised” if Woods returned in the made-for-TV Tavistock Cup exhibition March 22-23 in Lake Nona, Fla.

Associated Press writer Doug Ferguson reported Woods would remain out of golf at least until the Masters, citing two people with knowledge of Woods’ plans. The Masters starts April 8 in Augusta, Ga.

Woods has been practicing at Isleworth near his Orlando home the past two weeks, and swing coach Hank Haney was there during the weekend to work with him. That led to speculation Woods is close to playing again.

The Arnold Palmer Invitational director said he has not been given any indication Woods has chosen the event for his return to the PGA Tour, though plans have been discussed internally for accommodating increased coverage.

“We haven’t been told anything,” Scott Wellington said. “Hopefully, if it’s something factual, we would be the first to know or shortly thereafter. That’s where we are at this point.”

The New York Post reported Woods is going over plans to play Bay Hill, enlisting the help of Ari Fleischer, the former presidential adviser to George W. Bush, to deal with the anticipated media frenzy.

SEC Basketball tournament 2010 Live Score and Bracket Updates

by wildcherry on Thursday, March 11th, 2010 | News, Sports | No Comments

The 2010 SEC standings determine the seeds of the teams in the 2010 SEC Tournament bracket. The teams with the best SEC conference records receive top seeds in the 2010 SEC Tournament.

A team’s relative odds to win the 2010 SEC Tournament depend only partly on their SEC bracket seed. Winning the SEC Tournament also depends on the dynamics of the 2010 SEC bracket. In some cases, the team with a better SEC Tournament seed may actually face a harder path to the SEC Tournament championship than a team with a worse SEC tournament seed.

In addition, because SEC tournament seeds are based on win-loss records in SEC conference games, SEC tournament seeds are not always the most accurate measure of a team’s true performance level. This is another reason why higher seeded teams in the SEC bracket can have better odds to win the 2010 SEC Tournament than lower seeded teams in the SEC bracket.
