Microsoft answers iPad launch with ZUNE PHONE
by wildcherry on Monday, February 1st, 2010 | News, Tech/Gadget | No Comments
There’s rumors that Microsoft to announce the new Zune Phone at this months’ Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The phone will reportedly run on the Tegra platform, NVIDIA’s powerful system-on-a-chip that was used in the Zune HD and will also be used by a number of upcoming tablets.
We’ve been following the relatively steady stream of Zune Phone rumors, often referred to as “Project Pink” or the “Microsoft Zune Phone Experience.” Rather than being primarily a Zune music player with a phone grafted on, the Zune Phone is highly expected to run Windows Mobile 7 and incorporate the Zune software — similar to the way Apple’s iPhone runs a flavor of what is essentially iPod software.
It could very well be Microsoft’s long-awaited answer to the iPhone, so we’ll be watching closely during MWC for all the relevant announcements
Bill Gates joins Tweeter and “Instantly” Gains 100k followers
by wildcherry on Tuesday, January 19th, 2010 | Entertainment, News | No Comments
Microsoft’s founder and the world’s richest man, Bill Gates, has just jointed Twitter. You can start following him at @BillGates. The account is indeed real: it is officially a verified account and is confirmed by Twitter’s Caroline Mizumoto.
Bill’s follower count escalated after Caroline’s tweet, meaning his real rate of growth is about 20,000 new followers per hour. The last time we’ve seen a new Twitter user with this kind of momentum was Oprah when she first joined.
Well even though we are not Bill Gates, please feel free to add blogoncherry on Tweeter!
Microsoft Store opened on the day of Microsoft Windows 7 launch
by wildcherry on Thursday, October 22nd, 2009 | News, Tech/Gadget | 1 Comment
The new Microsoft online storefront features some new categories including ‘Computers’, so you can now go there to buy Windows 7 PCs as well as accessoriesand even third-party software like Adobe Photoshop and Nero 9.
So far, the new look and fresh categories are only reserved for the U.S. online store. The online Microsoft Store opened for business last November. The online store was a replacement for Microsoft’s Windows Marketplace site. When it opened, the online store only allowed users to purchase Microsoft hardware and software — games, keyboards, games and gaming consoles, Windows (client and server versions), Office and development tools. The electronic distribution capability of the online store made it an ideal complement to netbooks, Microsoft executives said.
Protect Your Computer from Conficker Virus
by wildcherry on Tuesday, March 31st, 2009 | News, Tech/Gadget | 2 Comments

Microsoft is warning about a virus that some say will strike on April Fool’s Day. The virus is already on millions of computers and it’s believed it will receive instructions on April 1 that may create Internet havoc.
It’s a worm called Conficker and it’s already crawled into millions of computers.
“The majority of the time, when a person gets it, they either lose Internet connection or they just get tons and tons of pop-ups,” said Justin Parson with Ribbit Computers.
Microsoft has released special software to deal with Conficker. Click on the link for more information.
