Official: NASA Confirmed Water on the Moon

“We’re unlocking the mysteries of our nearest neighbour and by extension the solar system. It turns out the moon harbours many secrets, and Lcross has added a new layer to our understanding,” said Michael Wargo, chief lunar scientist at Nasa’s headquarters in Washington.

The new findings, detailed in the Sept. 25 issue of the journal Science, come in the wake of further evidence of lunar polar water ice by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and just weeks before the planned lunar impact of NASA’s LCROSS satellite, which will hit one of the permanently shadowed craters at the moon’s south pole in hope of churning up evidence of water ice deposits in the debris field.

The moon remains drier than any desert on Earth, but the water is said to exist on the moon in very small quantities. One ton of the top layer of the lunar surface would hold about 32 ounces of water, researchers said.

Nasa scientists yesterday announced that a probe that was deliberately crashed into the moon’s southern polar region last month discovered at least 25 gallons of water.

“Yes, we found water,” said Anthony Colaprete, a principal project investigator at Nasa’s Ames research centre in California. “We didn’t find just a little bit, we found a significant amount.”

Scorpio and Sports

by kangataz on Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 | Astrology, Life | 2 Comments

Scorpios are one the few signs in the set of 12 that can be considered perfectionists. Because they are considered “fixed” their appreciations for life do set a high bar in their head of how things should be. This philosophy trickles down to the area of sports rather glaring.

rule 1: A Scorpio will not engage into any activity that they are not comfortable to be good at. A Scorpio’s perfectionist quality in most cases shadows over him/her, he/she then become seen as a party pooper in instances because of his/her refusal to involve themselves in exciting activities.

rule 2: When they do “do it”, they really mean it! So they finally found a knack in something that they are good at, possibly something they enjoy…. Don’t be alarmed to see them spend hours on end perfecting the art of *fill weird hobby here*. The depths that they go to in mastering their sport are freakishly awesome. Of course there are those that don’t do sports at all, more common than others their hobbies involve indoor, less physical activities. This is due to the fact that they are ruled by the element water characteristically known to overindulge.

rule 3: Competitive much? Remember that part mentioned about them being exceptionally good at things that they would engage in doing? One of the strongest influences in their obsessive research of their hobby is a worthy opponent to play with. It is very common that when a Scorpio gets into a new hobby that he/she has a best friend to be their playmate. This ties in with an obvious pattern that fixed signs always need companions to do activities with.

“Ketangkep Basah”

by nate on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008 | Humour | 6 Comments

I just realized this word, after years of living… and finally I know what it means. I was in the office and went down to get my lunch prepared. I put my “stuffed tofu” from my Indo-catering into the small office’ oven/toaster, and then I went back upstairs to get back to my computer. After about 4 minutes, I went down and was about to grab my food from the oven. As I approached the kitchen, I smelt something burning, and the receptionist who sat really close to the kitchen yelled,” Do you smell something is burning?” I ran fast to my food, hoping I didn’t make the office on fire.

When I was there, I was glad that there was no fire, and I was trying to find the “off” button. But, somehow it was still on, then I started to worry and unplug the cable. While I was doing that, I notice that on top of the small toaster, there was a “bzzzzz” sound and drops of water somehow appeared on top of the toaster. I managed to move the toaster to the side, and suddenly something hitting my armpit through my right short-sleeve. IT WAS THE WATER ATTACK! argh… and suddenly 5 more people came and we were panicking each other… bla bla bla bla… and at the end, after 20 minutes fighting with the water, we managed to turn off the water pump and they also found out, that it was my food on the toaster. The top of the toaster touched the water pipe so it created a hole because of the heat. I “got wet” today…
